Fred Muram’s “Kissing the Ceiling” series is mundane, unsophisticated and simple yet light-heartening (I just made that word up) and grin-bringforth-ing (again, made-up). If anyone wants to try it, I’ll take pictures for ya.

Some of Li Wei’s work is quite eery, yet charming in a playful and cartoonistic way. It appears that he can fly, and sometimes shove himself in practically any surface (just like how arrows nail their targets). Or detach his head and let it float around. He’s one of the few photographic installation artists out there that actually impressed me with creativity.

Smashing Magazine has a list of awesome macro photography works from here and there. I know I’ll never get into taking them myself, but staring at these beautiful shots definitely electrifies me.

His urban captures remind me of textile or graphic patterns you would expect to see on wallpapers. How interesting something can be shrunken down in scale and look less industrial.

Jeffrey Milstein’s interesting collection of aircrafts as they fly overhead. A close look at each aircraft made me think they’re spacecrafts. Look.

These pictures of microfauna done by National Geographics really makes me think this is art, not biology. Does this mean God’s every creation is art? Or is it just the photographer who’s at fault?

photographer | Hyun-Kook Son + KIAF

without comments

My friend from home, Hyun-Kook Son, is an avid photographer and has accomplished quite a bit as a hobbyist in the few years of cameramenship. As a matter of fact I am pretty sure that he started after I got into photography. I wanted to commend him here because he just got a gig with the KIAF2008 (Korea International Art Festival 2008) people to be the photojournalist of the art festival events and spaces in September. If you haven’t done already, go to his website (which is also to your right) and check out his work. Kudos to my friend!!

photography | cool animal B&Ws

Sweet B&W pictures by a Flickr user, Zeissizm. Go check it out. I highly doubt that he is able to take all these pictures with animals posing for them in a black backdrop, but it still looks quite amazing. Almost the best animal portraits I’ve ever seen.

Cherry blossoms in DC

with 2 comments

Back from DC! I know, I know, I’ve been to the city way too many times already this year. But think of it this way - this might have been my last trip to DC, at least for a while. Now you can cut me some slack, right? I’ve taken some pictures from the Cherry Blossom Festival, so go check it out. Of course, we had some dim sum this morning to finish with a strong note. For all those that I didn’t get to see you this weekend, I’ll just catch up with you during carnival. Aight?
